Allegations have surfaced regarding an orchestrated attempt to cover up a premeditated murder by reportedly disguising it as a staged “mob beating” or “mob justice.” Furthermore, specific and serious allegations have been raised suggesting the undue influence of a faction of office-bearing leaders from the current ruling party, the BNP (led by the Honorable Prime Minister #Tariq_Rahman), behind these efforts.
Post-Bail Jubilation and Attempts to Alter the Narrative
According to the information obtained thus far, several of the accused, including the principal accused in this case, Abdul Awal—a BNP leader from Mehari Union in Kasba Upazila—have recently been released on bail. The stance he articulated while wearing a garland at the jail gate immediately following his release has sparked intense discussion and severe criticism within civil society. A coordinated effort by the accused is visibly underway, allegedly seeking to establish the core incident as “mob justice” by engaging in the character assassination of the deceased and hiding behind the shield of their #Political_Sacrifices.
Tactics to Divert the Incident
Instead of contesting the allegations within the legal process based on facts and evidence, there is a noticeably calculated effort to divert the trajectory of the incident by utilizing the shield of political sacrifice and assassinating the character of the victim. Although many of the accused are currently out on bail, the criminal charges against them have not been dismissed. The legal proceedings remain ongoing.
Ensuring that no individual or group secures legal impunity under the guise of political identity remains a fundamental duty of institutional accountability for the new administration.

“As you know, the individual in whose murder case I have served time in jail today, had 30 cases filed against him. They are still active. There are 10 cases from the last 5 years alone. Across Brahmanpara police station, Bhairab police station, Tangail police station, and Bancharampur Sadar police station, there are a total of 30 cases in his name. These include cases of murder, theft, robbery, drug trafficking, and drug consumption.
He was killed by the public in a mob beating. None of us are involved. As you know, the dedicated leaders and activists of our party, BNP, have gathered here today. We have worked for BNP and for the party during past crises. We were active in movements and struggles; we were out on the streets.
Today, those who are masquerading as ‘neo-BNP’ are targeting us, especially people from our village… Mr. Saju Member, Chairman Mostafa Kamal, Raju, and Uday Molla. Along with myself, three of my political colleagues were taken in. Including me, four of us were detained, and four others remain in jail. Furthermore, 12 individuals, including Jahangir Member, are currently out on bail granted by the High Court. They are expected to surrender. Today, all of us are being subjected to this harassment. Alongside us, they have forced hundreds of people to flee our village.
